Sound Assertions: 3 Jazz Pioneers

Sound Assertions: 3 Jazz Pioneers is a theoretical concert event performed by jazz musicians Buddy Bolden, Jason Kao Huang, and Fats Waller. I created this poster series and animation to advertise this event while by bringing visual appeal to its viewers.
The posters have typographic elements and line weight to convey the rhythm of the performances and photographic elements conveying the instruments played. After much experimentation, I developed this concept using wet strips of paper molded around a model’s hands. I photoshopped the photos I took, placed them within my composition, and created a typographic system for the poster series for cohesion.
This poster series received an Honorable Mention in the 2019 Creative Communication Awards in two categories: Advertising Posters and Posters.
