Fish of the Waters
symbol set

Fish of the Waters is a symbol set project designed for a fictional environmental protection exhibition, Protect Our Waters Exhibit, that travels to educate people about different types of fish and the importance of protecting our waters.
Starting with research of different types of fish, I collected multiple reference images to begin sketching iterrations of the different fish. My symbol set includes 9 fish which represent 9 different types of water bodies.
After exploration from a myriad of style language sketches, I chose to use a scalable line weight that thickens to imply the fishes’ forms and tapers at the other end. Once the symbols were finalized, I applied them into mockups showcasing how they can be used as navigation signage, app iconography, and branding on exhibition transportation trucks, demonstrating the scalability and usage for this symbol set.
