Untitled
frame by frame short animation

As a frame by frame (FBF) animation introductory project, I drew a cat playing on a rooftop. This project was inspired by one of my childhood favorite movies The Aristocats. I have always enjoyed the hand-drawn visual aesthetic to older animated movies and shorts.
In my efforts, I learned more about the FBF animation process, including the 12 principles of animation, animation planning, storyboarding, and animatics. My largest complication was timing each frame, and the time required to meet my initial goal to have multiple cats playing.
If I were to revisit this animation to update it, I would add a handpainted watercolor background to bring the aesthetics closer to The Aristocats animation, and I would have at least 3-5 cats playing on the rooftop.
